It has been a privilege to live and work in Maple Ridge, the community has given so much to me and my family that I feel it is our duty to give back and help this city to become even a better place to live. And it is a pleasure to do so! Take a look at some of the recent work I have been doing and I hope you feel inspired to take action as well.
Alisa’s Wish Child & Youth Advocacy Centre helps all children and youth in Maple Ridge, Pit Meadows, and Katzie First Nation who have experienced or witnessed physical, emotional or sexual abuse. Since opening its doors in 2013, the Centre has impacted over 300 children, youth and their supporting families. They receive help from donors, ambassadors and volunteers. The Ambassador Team work with the Development Team to promote fundraising awareness in the Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows communities. I am proud to be an ambassador for the charity.
Jan Hickma & I sponsored a hole in a charity golf tournament Golf-Fore-Kids, and our sponsorship raised $665.00 for Alisa’s Wish. The tournament gave to 3 children’s charities, and donated $42,000 to Alisa’s Wish. A good day!!!

National Cupcake Day
The National Cupcake Day™ is a coordinated Canadian event to support local shelters, SPCAs, and Humane Societies. The idea is to encourage people to host their own National Cupcake Day Party where they bake cupcakes for their co-workers, friends and family. Their guests donate to the chosen animal welfare charity, in exchange for a cupcake, and raise critically-needed funds for animals that are abused, abandoned, neglected or no longer wanted.
I helped organize the SPCA National Cupcake Day for our office, Re/Max LifeStyles. We raised over $1500 for “The Paws” – that’s a lot of cupcakes!!!
